Bloomberg — Twitter announced on Thursday that it is launching its much-anticipated feature for editing already-published tweets.
The edit button should start appearing for users who pay for a Twitter Blue subscription in the coming days.
For now, the button is being tested internally. According to the tech company, tweets can be edited multiple times within 30 minutes of posting. Edited tweets will appear with an icon, a date/time stamp and a tag to make it clear to readers that the original tweet has been edited. Tapping the tag will take people to the edit history of the tweet, which includes previous versions.
if you see an edited Tweet it's because we're testing the edit button

this is happening and you'll be okay
Twitter has debated the pros and cons of an edit button for years, with some users worried about the feature being abused by tweets that go viral, only to change the content of a message after it has been retweeted.
Former CEO Jack Dorsey said in January 2020 that an edit button was highly unlikely, although it has been much requested.
The debate snowballed earlier this year when Tesla (TSLA) CEO Elon Musk took a large equity stake in the company and then asked his followers if they wanted an edit button. The majority of those who voted said ‘yes’.
Twitter quickly confirmed that it was already testing the feature internally and, in an apparent effort to distance the project from Musk’s influence, clarified that it began work on an edit button before Musk’s survey.
