Appointed by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva to the presidency of Petrobras, economist, lawyer and politician Jean-Paul Prates took office at the state-owned company in January 2023. To assume the position, he resigned as a senator a week before the end of his term. He is the 42nd president of Petrobras and took office after the resignation of his predecessor, Caio Paes de Andrade. In office, Prates reviewed the company’s fuel pricing policy, asset sales and dividend policy.
