Bloomberg Línea — Formula 1 returns to the city of Miami, Florida, on May 5-7, 2023, with the second edition of the Grand Prix in the city, which last year stole the attention of fans around the world, and of visitors who turned out in their thousands to enjoy the exclusive events taking place across the weekend.
During the previous year’s race weekend, the GP achieved high audience figures with at least 23 million people tuning in to the different events, 27% more than the 2021 Austin (USA) Grand Prix. There were also 140 million visits between the F1 website and app, according to Front Office Sports.
What are the driver rankings so far this season?
After almost a month without racing, the 20 drivers of the top class of motorsport will meet again in Miami to continue with the 2023 season.
The Red Bull Racing squad are the closest contenders for this year’s drivers’ championship, although there is still a long season ahead. Max Verstappen leads with 69 points, ahead of Mexican Sergio ‘Checo’ Perez’s 54. Slightly behind is Spain’s Fernando Alonso, who races for Aston Martin, with 45 points.
Figures from last year’s Grand Prix held in Miami show a total attendance of 243,000 people for the entire weekend (Friday through Sunday), with weekly visitor spending exceeding US$150 million, according to findings released by South Florida Motorsports.
2023 Miami GP schedule and where to watch it
Until just a few weeks ago, there were rumors of a possible postponement of the 2023 Miami GP, due to the heavy rains that flooded the city streets, some of which are used for the street circuit, and also the surroundings of the Hard Rock Stadium, the main infrastructure of the whole F1 experience in Florida.
However, the forecasts of postponement or cancellation have been cleared and the schedule remains firm. The organization has even announced changes in the paddock, the area where the teams monitor the competition.
The Miami circuit, which creates a race 5,412 kilometers long, and which consists of 57 laps, will be held at the following times between May 5 and 7 (local time):

- Free Practice 2 → Friday, May 5, 17:00
- Free Practice 3 → Saturday, May 6, 12:30
- Qualifyer → Saturday, May 6, 16:00
- Race → Sunday, May 7, 15:30
