Luis Carlos Sarmiento Angulo

Considered one of the richest men in Colombia and Latin America, at 89 years of age this powerful banker is the chairman of the board of directors of the financial conglomerate Grupo Aval, which operates through four commercial banks, Porvenir and Corficolombiana, in addition to having investments in Panama. The powerful holding company, formed in the early 1970s, posted a net profit of US$3.3 billion in 2021, 40.4% more than in 2020, which was the best result in its history.
