Aimeé Sentmat has faced enormous challenges since taking over as executive president of Banistmo and becoming the first woman to lead the Board of Directors of the Panama Banking Association. One of them is facing the biggest economic, health and social crisis in many decades with the current Covid pandemic. Against this backdrop, Sentmat has achieved a significant accomplishment: pushing Panamanian banks to close payment arrangements with almost half a million of their clients, which represents almost half of the portfolio in default. Another achievement is to have accompanied, through Valores Banistmo, the issuance of US$2 billion in debt by the Panamanian government.
