There is only one primary aluminum producer in Argentina and it is Aluar, chaired by Javier Madanes Quintanilla, one of the 20 richest people in the country (US$590), according to the Forbes registry. With more than 2,100 employees, Aluar produces 460 thousand tons per year, thus being one of the main aluminum manufacturers in South America. The metallurgical company exports 70% of what it manufactures in Puerto Madryn while the remainder is to supply the domestic market. Madanes Quintanilla is also the owner of Fate, the renowned tire manufacturer.
