Fernando Yunes is senior vice president and head of MercadoLibre for Brazil, the main market for the e-commerce company founded in Argentina. Yunes was appointed to the position in 2020 and has led the company at a time of increasing competition in the country’s online market and Mercado Libre’s expansion on the financial and logistics fronts. In 2023, the company said it aimed to hire 13,000 new employees in Latin America, most of them (8,500) in Brazil. In the second quarter, the company reported a 53% growth in revenues, to US$3.4 billion, and a net profit of US$261.9 million (113% more than in the same period of 2022).
