Colombian-American economist Adriana Kugler is the first Hispanic to serve on the board of governors of the US Federal Reserve. Born in the US to Colombian parents, part of her early academic training was in Bogotá. She was executive director of the World Bank Group for the United States; and before joining the organization, served as chief economist at the US Department of Labor during the administration of Barack Obama (2011-2013). Much of her expertise and academic and professional contributions are related to the labor market, sustainability and social inclusion.
