President of the Central Bank of Chile since February 2022 and a board member since January 2017, she is the first woman in history to preside over the bank. Costa had already worked at the bank between 1984 and 1992 in the areas of national accounts, studies and monetary matters. An economist, a graduate of the Catholic University of Chile, Costa has a long career, having been the budget director of the Ministry of Finance between 2010 and 2013, and she served as deputy director of Libertad y Desarrollo, and was also director of the its economic program.
