Teresa Hamid is a recognized thought leader in data, analytics, cognitive computing and the Internet of Things. She led the transformation of IBM clients to data-driven enterprises, providing technical and change management solutions. Hamid’s mother is Mexican. At age 14, Hamid started working as a waitress to help support her family. A high school guidance counselor encouraged her to join a program that taught computer skills for journalism, and she soon progressed from desktop publishing to learning to code. Today, she trains IT professionals in career development and customer engagement, and in 2013, she received a Star of Today award from the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers.
