He chairs Grupo Poma, a business conglomerate founded by his grandfather in 1919. The company has five operating divisions: Excel (automobiles), Grupo Roble (real estate and shopping centers), Grupo Solaire, Real Hotels & Resorts (hotels) and Autofácil (finance). The latter was recognized last May by Fintech Americas with the highest Platinum distinction in the Financial Inclusion category at the Innovators 2023 Awards in Miami, Florida. Ricardo has also been investing in health, education and culture for more than four decades, through Fundación Poma, the Salvadoran Foundation for Health and Human Development (FUSAL), the Higher School of Economics and Business (ESEN), Fundación Renacer and the Luis Poma Theater. Outside his home country, he has participated in supporting INCAE in its mission to contribute to the development of the region.
