Martín Pérez de Solay is managing director and CEO of Allkem Limited, one of the two companies already producing lithium in Argentina. The Australian company agreed to merge with Livent, from the United States, in a context in which they plan to be the third global producer in five years in view of the growing demand to supply electromobility. Argentina currently represents 50% of Allkem’s production in the world, while the other half corresponds to Australia. According to investor presentations in 2022, Allkem produced 13,959 tons of lithium carbonate. At the same time, in March, it reported that construction of the Olaroz Phase 2 lithium plant reached 98.2%, with commissioning activities underway and first production scheduled for the second quarter of this year.
