From vehicle manufacturer to wind farm projects, the source of the wealth of businessman Mário Araripe, 68, ranges from the creation of the Troller SUV brand, acquired by Ford in 2006, to the founding in 2007 of Casa dos Ventos, his bet on renewable energies, taking advantage of the intense winds of the coast of the state of Ceará, his homeland in northeastern Brazil. In 2022, the company formed a 12 billion reais (US$2.423 billion) joint venture with France’s TotalEnergies and another with Luxembourg steel conglomerate ArcelorMittal. According to Forbes, Araripe has an estimated fortune of 10.4 billion reais (US$2.1 billion).
