Marcos Molina is the founder, controlling shareholder and chairman of the board of Marfrig Global Foods, one of the world’s largest food producers, with consolidated net revenues of 130.6 billion reais (US$23.375 billion) in 2022. Keen since the age of 16 to open his own meat distribution business, Molina became in 2021 the largest shareholder of BRF, another animal protein giant, expanding the global reach of his business. In April, the executive said in an interview with Bloomberg News that his focus in 2023 is to improve BRF’s profit margins and “fix the company.” In July, BRF raised R$4.5 billion (US$908.9 million) in a takeover bid, which included funds from Salic, Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund, and an increased stake from Molina.
