At end-2022, Toyota advanced had become one of the carmakers that sold the most vehicles in Mexico, with more than 141,500 units. The Japanese brand has captured more than 7.5% of the market share, according to Mexico’s statistics bureau INEGI, a rapid advance for the company led by Luis Lozano. In recent years, moreover, Mexico has become the only place where the Japanese company’s Tacoma trucks are manufactured (in plants in Baja California and Guanajuato). Likewise, the company leads sales of hybrid vehicles in the country (115,000 since 2010), accounting for more than 52% of the electric cars sold in Mexico.
