Ignacio Cueto comes from a family with a long history in business, having gained control of the LAN Chile airline in 1994. He has been in the business for more than 30 years, holding relevant positions as president and COO of the airline from 2005 until its merger with TAM in 2012.
Under his leadership, the airline became one of the most prominent in Latin America, leading the establishment of company subsidiaries in the region and making alliances with other air carriers.
Cueto has been chairman of the board of Latam Airlines Group since 2017, and was confirmed in his role following the airline’s Chapter 11 reorganization conducted in the New York Bankruptcy Court, a process that concluded in November 2022.
