Paulmann is the third child of businessman Horst Paulmann Kemna, founder of the Chilean holding company Cencosud. She graduated as a commercial engineer from the Universidad de Chile and also studied an MBA at the Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez.
Since April 1999, she has been a member of Cencosud’s board of directors. She was appointed president of the family business in 2021, after her father decided to give up control of the company.
During the last two years as president of the company, she has acquired the Giga chain in Brazil and The Fresh Market supermarkets in the United States, expanding the number of countries in which the group operates. Cencosud reported revenue growth of 20.8% in 2022 over the previous year.
