The 65-year-old assumed the presidency of Grupo Sura in April 2020, replacing David Bojanini. He is a lawyer with a specialization in insurance, and also completed the CEO program at the Kellogg School of Management in Chicago. Within Grupo Sura, he led the company’s defense of the hostile takeover bids launched by banker Jaime Gilinski Bacal for the companies of Grupo Empresarial Antioqueño. After more than a year of bidding for the GEA companies, he led the agreement reached with Gilinski. It is expected that when the transaction is concluded, the investors of the company he leads will benefit from the dividends received as a result of the transaction that will leave Grupo Nutresa in Gilinski’s hands.
