Alejandro Ramírez, who entered the family film business in 1996, heads the largest cinema chain in Latin America, with operations in several countries in the continent, India and the Middle East. In Mexico, the company disputes a duopoly with Cinemex, owned by industrial magnate Germán Larrea. In its home market, Ramirez says that the company will close 2023 with the 85% audience share it had before the pandemic and that Mexicans’ love for movies will help the business a lot, as it is the largest market in Latin America. In July, Cinépolis opened the doors of its complex in Inglewood, California, entering the luxury sector and expanding a global presence that consolidates its position as the fourth-largest cinema chain in the world.
