Bloomberg Línea — Mexican airline Aeromar has confirmed its definitive ceasing of operations due to its financial problems, making it the second local airline to cease operations in the last three years.
“The decision responds to a series of financial problems the airline was going through, as well as the difficulty of closing viable agreements to ensure its long-term operation,” the company said in a statement.
The airline, which until last week was still promoting its flights on social networks, is the second to cease operations since local carrier Interjet called time on its operations in December 2020.
Aeromar will issue information promptly to provide alternatives to customers who had purchased tickets, the company said.
Regarding the relationship with its workers, the airline said that last year’s base salaries were paid in full, but that partial payment of some items related to salaries is still pending.
Aeromar served regional destinations from Mexico City such as Cancún, Cozumel, Hermosillo, Mazatlán, Monterrey, Puerto Escondido, Puerto Vallarta and Villahermosa.
