João Marques da Cruz is CEO of EDP Brazil and vice chairman of the board of directors. Between 1984 and 1999, he held various executive positions at TAP Air Portugal, including general manager and vice president of group companies. He held other positions in Portugal until 2007, when he joined the EDP group, holding positions from 2007 to 2021. The group decided this year to make a takeover bid for its subsidiary in Brazil, in a strategy to obtain synergies with the renewable branch in the country. Recently, the company announced a R$530 million (US$108.25 million) investment plan in the state of Goiás for the next four years, focused on solar energy and transmission.
