Bogotá — So far this year, Latin America has contributed a total of 303 million visits to ChatGPT, the artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot developed by OpenAI, driving the global fever for the use of the tool in the midst of the race among more and more companies to exploit its functions.

It is estimated that this year 10% of the visits have originated from Latin America, and that ChatGPT is seeing 1.6 billion visits each month, to March.

According to figures from strategy consulting, technology services and outsourcing firm Accenture, up to 40% of all working hours will be supported or augmented by language-based AI.

What do businesses think about the use of ChatGPT?

In Accenture’s Technology Vision 2023 report the firm states that 98% of respondents among business leaders agree that basic AI models will play an important role in their organization’s strategies in the next three to five years.

“The meteoric rise of ChatGPT has captured global attention regarding the power of generative AI to augment human capability (...) nearly all executives agree that generative AI will drive creativity and innovation (98% of those surveyed) and usher in a new era of business intelligence (95%),” said Accenture.

Meanwhile, a global survey by McKinsey & Company confirmed that leaders see the greatest opportunity for growth in the adoption of artificial intelligence and the internet of things over the next five years, and which states that these tools are already providing benefits to digital financial platforms in countries such as Colombia and Peru in building new businesses.

In fact, 54% of those consulted acknowledged that they expect to use AI to meet their value proposition and 35% will add Internet-of-Things developments.

Projections indicate that the adoption of AI will grow in both the private and public spheres, and will be reflected in multiple ways in the daily lives of consumers.

A study by International Data Corporation (IDC), cited by Avaya, states that government and private enterprise spending on AI technology will exceed $500 billion this year.

In 2021, revenues derived from the AI market totaled $383.3 billion, which was 20.7% more than in 2020. This year, according to IDC forecasts, the market value of AI reached nearly $450 billion.
