Bloomberg Línea — Stellantis, the parent company of brands like Fiat, Jeep, Peugeot, and Citroën, announced changes to its global leadership on Thursday.
Antonio Filosa, the current Chief Operating Officer (COO) for South America, will take on the role of CEO of the Jeep brand. He will replace Christian Meunier, who, according to Stellantis, will take “an extended break to focus on personal projects.” These changes will take effect from November 1. Filosa, in turn, will be succeeded by Emanuele Cappellano, who is currently the CEO of the Marcolin Group for North America.
Previously, Cappellano worked for 19 years at Fiat, with his last role being the CFO of Stellantis for South America.
Ashwani Muppasani, who has been the head of sales in China since July 2022, has been appointed Chief Operating Officer for Stellantis India and the Asia-Pacific region, replacing Carl Smiley, who will focus on personal projects.
“I have full confidence that Cappellano and Muppasani, along with Filosa, will continue the paths set by their predecessors and further drive Stellantis to victory during this period of profound changes in our industry,” said Carlos Tavares, CEO of Stellantis, in a statement.
Amid the global shift toward vehicle electrification, the group has been investing not only in electric and hybrid models but also in mining assets to secure battery supplies.
These global leadership changes come at a challenging time for the automotive industry, with one of the largest strikes by auto workers in the United States affecting General Motors, Ford, and Stellantis simultaneously. Thousands of employees have been on strike since September 15 to negotiate wage increases and working conditions.
