This year, Council of the Americas brings its Latin American Cities Conference series to Brasília. This half-day event, which will occur on August 22nd, will gather investors, business executives, and policymakers to offer insight into Brazil’s journey towards sustainable development and inclusive growth.
Flávio Dino, Brazil’s Minister of Justice and Public Security, Rodrigo Pacheco, President of the Senate, and Luciana Santos, Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation will be three of the main speakers, which will also include Elizabeth F. Bagley, U.S. Ambassador to Brazil; Maria Laura da Rocha, Secretary General of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Relations and Thiago Barral, National Secretary for the Energy Transition and Planning, Ministry of Mines and Energy.
The conference will start at 8:30 am at the B Hotel Brasilia and it will be in Portuguese. After some welcoming remarks by Susal Segal, President and CEO of Americas Society/Council of the Americas, and by Ambassador Da Rocha, the first panel, titled “Strategic Public-Private Collaboration for a Sustainable Future” will start.
Participants of the panel will be Vice President & General Manager, Kellogg Mercosur Alberto Raich; Global Head Corporate Affairs, Suzano and President of ABAF Mariana Lisbôa; Vice President of Public Policy, Americas, Amazon Web Services, Shannon Kellogg; Secretary for the Environment, State of Bahia, Eduardo Sodré Martins and President, Instituto Talanoa Natalie Unterstell.
Bloomberg reporter Martha Viotti Beck will interview National Secretary, Energy Transition and Planning, Ministry of Mines and Energy Thiago Barral and Managing Editor of Americas Quarterly Cecilia Tornaghi will interview Minister of Justice and Public Security Flávio Dino.
