Roberto Kriete

Avianca’s aeronautical navigation chart follows the path of transformation. Salvadoran Roberto Kriete pilots it with a view to fulfilling his vision for the company. The airline has enjoyed a 2022 full of strategic alliances. In May it announced an alliance with Brazil’s GOL to form Grupo Abra. Kriete will lead as chairman of the board of directors of that conglomerate. In April, Avianca and Viva Air asked the authorities for approval to work in the same holding company as part of their adaptation strategy after the Covid-19 pandemic. At 69 years of age - and with 50 years of business experience - one of his most challenging achievements was to bring Avianca out of Chapter 11 in the US in 18 months, and with a liquidity of US$1 billion, in December 2021.
