In the midst of the pandemic, he took on the challenge of presiding over Grupo Sura, a financial services holding company operating in Latin America. Like the presidents of other jewels in the crown of Grupo Empresarial Antioqueño, Pérez also faced the Gilinski family’s takeover bids for the group. Born in Bogotá, he graduated in law with a specialization in insurance. From 2003 to 2020, he was president of Suramericana, a subsidiary of Grupo Sura.
