Three-time world surfing champion and global idol, Gabriel Medina became this year an investor in startups by setting up Kauai Ventures, in partnership with Rico Laureano and Ian Dubugras, from Carpa Family Office. He decided to opt for a model in which he invests with his own resources in projects in which he becomes a partner, instead of raising funds with third parties. In sports, he is one of the most dominant surfers on the main world circuit, the WSL, and is the person with the most stage wins since 2015.
