PRESS RELEASE — Bloomberg Línea, Latin America’s leading digital, financial and business news multi-platform is celebrating its first anniversary and presents the second edition of Latin America’s 500 Most Influential, which highlights business leaders, executives, entrepreneurs, philanthropists and public servants that have the greatest influence on the region.

The list, published in English, Bloomberg Línea; Spanish, BloombergLinea.com and Portuguese BloombergLínea.com.br acknowledges the actions and initiatives carried out by the 500 personalities during the year that have led Latin America’s economic recovery amid a difficult year due to the global scenario and regional and local problems.

Among the most prominent figures in the 2022 edition of The Latin America 500, the editorial team of Bloomberg Línea selected, after an intense scrutiny of thousands of candidates, figures who have a presence in business spanning several decades, as well as CEOs, executives, founders, artists and athletes who have stood out during the last year.

In this edition, some figures who have continued to exercise a leadership role in the region, such as Carlos Slim, Daniel Servitje, Stanley Motta, Luis Carlos Sarmiento, Isabel Noboa, Eduardo Logemann and Carlos Alberto Sicupira, reappeared on the list. And other names are included who are newer on the scene, but who have already established themselves as some of the most visible faces in their respective sectors, such as Marcelo Claure and Jaime Zunzunegui, as well as founders of tech giants such as Marcos Galperín, Martín Migoya and Sergio Fogel, and people such as Isela Constantini and Xiomara Castro, the latter the first woman to hold the position of president of Honduras.

How the 2022 list of Latin America’s 500 Most Influential was drawn up

According to Bloomberg Línea’s editorial board, the 2022 selection includes around 200 personalities who are making their debut on the list, and which follows the intention of the first Latin America 500 list to be a living entity that changes with the times.

The selection of The Latin America 500 2022 was defined and refined by Bloomberg Linea’s editorial board based on submissions from more than 70 of our journalists on the continent. The 500 operate in and originate from Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela.

This year’s edition also took into account people from Cuba, Nicaragua and Puerto Rico, as well as a selection of executives and entrepreneurs of Hispanic-American origin who reside in the United States.

The editorial board states that the list of the Latin American 500 is not a ranking, and the selection is not based on the fortunes of those included, but rather is a recognition of their recent actions, especially in areas such as job creation, the promotion of growth measures, and their global reach through their achievements.

With this list, Bloomberg Línea acknowledges the diversity of Latin America at a time when creative and efficient measures are needed to overcome the various crises affecting the region.

Lists such as Latin America’s 500 and the 100 Innovators of 2021 and 50 Women of Impact are part of Bloomberg Línea’s editorial offering, and which are complemented by its growing multi-platform content.
